The Unpredictable

Even though we plant to provide a variety of vegetables each week, the variables in growing are diverse and may result in more or less of a certain crop than was planned. If there is an  abundance of a crop, shareholders may preserve it or pass it along to a friend.

Be aware that there are a few reasons why a CSA share might not be right for you. We cannot always plant exactly the vegetables you want or predict the changes in the weather, pests, and myriad other circumstances that shift fortunes of every farm from year to year. We cannot create the selection you have at the grocery store. A CSA share is great for someone who is willing to try new foods and can adapt their recipes to suit the vegetables they have at hand. You must be willing to be a little adventurous in the kitchen. We grow primarily heirloom vegetables and fruits. Some of the produce we grow has been close to extinction so by growing these "foods of old" we assure they don't get lost to newer genetically altered varieties. Therefore our produce will mostly look a little different (black, green, orange tomatoes, purple or orange cauliflower, purple carrots, rainbow chard) from what you see in the store but will be more rich in flavor and nutrients.
